The University Library, which now houses the Arizona State Museum, is arguably the most impressive building facing the UA mall. Its symmetrical Italianate facade, large two-story arched windows, and red tile roof present a dignified presence just inside the University Main Gate. The building's fine brickwork and terra cotta detailing, as well as its charming interior spaces, are worthy of closer inspection. On the first floor, the museum has recently completed construction of a state-of-the-art pottery vault, which houses the largest whole-vessel collection of Southwest Indian pottery in the world.
